I love this time of year.
The leaves are changing. Pumpkin everything is out. And school has settled back in.
Maybe it’s because I have fond memories of beginning school each September, after picking out brand, spanking new supplies.
But it’s no less exciting now that school is a distant memory.
Or is it?
I may not be seated at a desk, but my learning has never stopped.
I’m constantly exploring new ways of reaching out, telling people about me and my work.
Speaking or signing at book events. Coming up with new stories to tell. Working with my very creative illustrator on new projects. I love it all!
Last year I was in an uncomfortable position on virtual visits.
I hadn’t really done them before. And I wasn’t sure just how it would all go.
So I practiced, put myself out there, and it wound up being a pretty good school year after all.
So now, I’m ready to take it on, with experience in my sack and my laptop by my side.
The lesson is the same one that comes up time and again in my books: trying something new.Now I can say that I’ve been there, done it, and looking forward to school again..
