About

With a background in corporate communications and advertising, a copywriter and feature writer, somewhere along the line, something new and exciting came along. When all the writing and assignments were put to bed, I began watching the absolutely dastardly adventures of my poodles. They tickled me—so I thought why not others?

After many ups, downs, trials and tribulations, I published my first Poodle Posse book in 2007. Once the first was out, the ideas kept spinning. What if? I would think, spinning stories based on what was going on in my own home and imagination. Kids seemed to like them, which only encouraged me.

Now I stand on the verge of book 10. After nine books for primary readers (K-2) and a couple decades writing about poodles, upside-down gardens, a mouse on the run and an ‘out of bounds’ birthday party, the reality of having a grandchild has been both awe-inspiring and leading—to a special place in my heart and my imagination—how all my tales have begun.

So, the newest book is I Made It! A Compilation of Baby’s Accomplishments. It’s not funny, zany or written for children already using the big potty. Rather, it’s a book for moms, grandmoms to gift or read to their own special, little people. For sure, it’s simple and profoundly cute, turning the tables on exactly what the baby has and is giving his family, rather than the other way around. And I suspect, once children are using the big potty, hearing the story will make them proud—proud of all they’ve done, even at their short stature and young age.

Either on the computer or with pen in hand, I can be found writing predominantly for children, but also lifestyle features for magazines. It all happens in my Bucks County, PA home, which I share with my husband, Mark, and latest favorite, dastardly pooch, Bailey.
