A Shore Thing

It's my favorite time of year---the time to pack up the gear and head down the shore. But even this sun worshipper knows you can only do it for so long. So what to do with the kids after a long, tiring day in the sun? Keep up the literary skills and read a story together.

Great beach reads shouldn't only be reserved for adults. It's a good time to let the kids pick out something fun and summery. Some good choices include Pete at the Beach (Pete the Cat series), Miranda's Beach Day, Just Grandma and Me, Scaredy Squirrel at the Beach. And for dog lovers, check out 'No Dogs Allowed' from The Adventures of the Poodle Posse series. In it, the posse of poodles is turned around when their owner sees a 'No Dogs Allowed' sign on the boardwalk. What to do? The dog park it is. Only one problem: one member of the posse makes it difficult for the family. A park is not a beach vacation! Oh, but maybe there's more to learn about trying something new and having some fun along the way. From the Well Bred Book; www.wellbredbook.net.
