A Grand Slam Birthday Hits it out of the Park

It's been awhile in coming---but it's finally here! A Grand-Slam Birthday is the second book in the Dory Oslo Adventures. While it can certainly be read as a stand-alone story, readers will appreciate the sequential order of what happens to Dory Oslo.

A young, determined city girl, Dory learns how to make the best of a situation---and come out stronger for doing so. In this book, Dory arrives at her frilly cousin Izzy's birthday dance party. A dance party? Gulp! Yes. And as you might expect, none of the kids are too excited. In fact, they're not even participating. When Dory tries to turn things around, she suggests Izzy open her gifts, including a very unique one from Dory. Izzy opens the box and exclaims 'What is it?' Of course, it's a donkey piñata. Izzy knows nothing of it and Dory's about to school her in the fine art of 'hitting.' It takes a bit of coaxing, but finally Izzy smacks it hard enough to break it open, and uncover all sorts of treats inside. One of them is a ball---and baseball just happens to be Dory's thing. Paper plates for bases, a big wooden spoon for a ball for hitting, a ring pop for a microphone and the kids are off, all participating in the activity. Lots of action ensues and the MVP of the game? None other than Izzy, who drives the runs home.

Interrupted by the birthday cake, the kids gather for a happy birthday song---which leads into the music and ultimately dancing.

Dory is a strong female character who knows just what to do in any given situation, and she empowers Izzy to try something new and gain confidence. In return, Dory learns a thing or two about something new----dancing.

The book will be available on the website----as soon as my webmaster gets it up. And naturally, through Amazon and indie bookstores.
